First Aid at Work

This is the first aid course for all employees nominated as First Aiders in the workplace. It meets the statutory requirements under the Health and safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. An intensive 4 day course which, gives the candidate the theoretical knowledge, confidence and practical ability to provide first aid treatment at workplace emergencies.

Syllabus includes;

Priorities of first aid
Management of minor and major illnesses
Managing incidents
Burns and scalds
Management of unconscious casualties
Poisoning
Resuscitation Miscellaneous injuries
Control of bleeding Legislation
Recognition and treatment of shock Record keeping
Injuries to bones, muscles and joints. First aid equipment

Practical first aid training sessions using live professional casualties is an integral part of the course. The course is assessable by independent assessors and candidates must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment. HSE-approved certificates are valid for three years.

All equipment is provided and each candidate receives a first aid manual which may be used for reference purposes after the course.

First Aid at Work re-qualifying

This course is for employees who have a current First Aid at Work certificate. The certificate must be current throughout the re-qualification course; however candidates may attend this course up to twelve weeks prior or 28 days after its expiry date. The new certificate will run consecutively.

This two day course updates candidate’s first aid knowledge, practical skills and revises on requirements in the workplace.

Syllabus includes;

Managing incidents
Fractures and soft tissue injuries
Management of unconscious casualties
Burns and scalds
Resuscitation
Management of major illnesses
Control of bleeding Miscellaneous injuries
Recognition and treatment of shock  

The course is assessable by independent assessors and candidates must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment. Successful candidates receive a HSE-approved certificate which is valid for three years. All equipment is provided and each candidate receives a first aid manual which may be used for reference purposes after the course.

Appointed Person First Aid

This 1 day Emergency first Aid course, commonly know as the "Appointed Person"course is suitable for persons wishing to learn basic first aid which qualifies them as an "Emergency First-Aider" in the workplace.

Syllabus includes;

Personal Safety, assessing the incident
Burns and scalds
Priorities; DRABC checks and sending for help
Recognition and management of fractures
Dealing with conscious and unconscious casualty
Heart conditions
Recovery Position Diabetes and Asthma
Resuscitation – CPR for Children and Infants Anaphylactic Shock
Choking Crushing Injury
Dealing with blood loss and shock Miscellaneous injuries
Amputations  

The course is on a continual assessment basis and candidates must attend all sessions to be eligible for assessment. Certificates are valid for one year. All equipment is provided and each candidate receives a first aid manual which may be used for reference purposes after the course.

Baby & Child First Aid

This 1 day Child and Baby First Aid course is suitable for people working with children and babies, providing them with a basic knowledge on how to administer first aid and basic life support to children and babies.
